Working together to deliver new nuclear in the UK

In 2009 EDF Energy is hosted a major conference to highlight our plans to invest in new nuclear in the UK and the role that business will have to help deliver that investment.

We intend to build four new EPR reactors in the UK by 2025, with the first operational by the end of 2017. Such major investment in infrastructure will generate considerable commercial opportunities for the UK supply chain and for UK workers.

The aim of the conference was to ensure that UK companies are aware of the opportunities that our investment plans will create. The event also provided information about our procurement process and the packages available to potential tier 1 to 3 level suppliers. This will be a national event and we are planning to hold similar regional events in the future.

All of us depend on reliable, affordable and clean supplies of energy. Delivering long-term investment to achieve this is one of the biggest challenges facing the energy industry and the UK as a whole. Our aim is to play a leading role in UK nuclear new build, alongside our investment programmes in other forms of low carbon generation.
